Paid ads
Google and Facebook ads for Berks County businesses
I set up and run Google Search ads, Google Local Services Ads and Facebook/Instagram ads for local businesses in Reading and across Berks County. You pay Google and Meta directly for the ads, in accounts registered to you. Each month I report what every call and booked job cost you, not how many people saw an ad.
What it costs
Ads on their own
$750 setup, then $1,000 a month for ad budgets up to $5,000. Above $5,000, management is 15% of that month’s spend.
With the local-search system
$500 setup, then $750 a month, same 15% above $5,000. Cheaper because the tracking, landing pages and Google profile are already built. What the system includes.
The ad spend itself is separate. It goes straight to Google and Meta on your card, you set the budget, and you can change or pause it any time. Management is month to month with 30 days’ notice. For a sense of scale: $3,000 a month in ads costs $1,000 a month to manage on its own, or $750 with the system. $8,000 a month in ads is $1,200 either way.
When ads make sense, and when they don’t
Ads are the fast lever. They can put your number in front of someone searching tomorrow morning, which no amount of SEO can do this month. They also stop the day you stop paying, and the click isn’t cheap here: Google’s Keyword Planner has “plumbers near me” in Berks at up to $73 a click and “hvac companies near me” at up to $88.
At those prices, sending ad clicks to a slow page is paying Google to lose customers. So before I spend a dollar of your budget, I check the page the ad lands on. If it’s slow on a phone or the phone number isn’t one tap away, that gets fixed first. You can run the same speed check yourself in thirty seconds.
If what you want is a steadier flow of calls over the next year, local SEO is usually the better buy. If you need the phone ringing this month, or your season won’t wait (the first cold snap, storm week, the March thaw), ads earn their keep. Plenty of businesses run both while the rankings build.
What I run
Google Search ads
Text ads on the searches that mean someone wants to hire you: your service plus your town, “near me,” emergency searches. Negative keywords keep out job seekers, DIY searches and towns you don’t serve.
Local Services Ads
The Google Guaranteed and Google Screened listings that sit above everything else for many trades. You pay per lead, not per click. I handle setup and verification, and dispute the leads that shouldn’t have been charged.
Facebook & Instagram
Seasonal pushes, offers, and ads shown to people who already visited your site. Strongest for work people browse photos of before they call: patios, kitchens, decks.
Tracking first
Every campaign gets call and form tracking before it goes live, so each booked job can be traced to the ad and the search that produced it.
What you see each month
Calls and booked jobs from ads, shown separately from what your rankings bring in, with the cost of each. Clicks and impressions are in there if you want them, but they’re not the headline. If a campaign isn’t paying for itself, the report says so and says what I’m changing, or recommends turning it off.
One thing ads aren’t: part of the 90-day promise on the local-search system. Ad results depend on a budget you control, so they’re reported on their own and don’t count toward or against it.
