Switching

Paying every month and can’t tell what it bought?

Most owners who call me after a bad agency say the same things: the invoice came every month, the report looked busy, and the phone didn’t ring any more than before. Then they found out the contract had renewed, or that the agency owned the website. Switching is less work than it sounds. Here is how I do it.

How switching works

  1. Bring your contract to a 15-minute call. I read it with you: the term, the renewal date, the notice period, any cancellation fee, and who owns what.
  2. I map what you own. Your domain, Google Business Profile, analytics, call-tracking numbers, ad accounts and website files, and whose name each one is in.
  3. I set the exit date with you. Timed so you aren’t paying two companies longer than you have to.
  4. I move everything into your name. Logins transferred, the Google profile kept with its reviews, the site rebuilt if it lived on their platform, and every old page redirected.
  5. Calls are tracked from day one. So in 90 days you can compare against what you had, in numbers.

Check these in your contract today

  • The auto-renew date and how much notice you have to give.
  • Who registered your domain. Look it up; if it isn’t your name, ask for it.
  • Whether your website runs on the agency’s own platform.
  • Who is the primary owner of your Google Business Profile.
  • Whose name the ad accounts and call-tracking numbers are in.

What’s different when you work with me

  • You own everything from day one. Domain, site, Google profile, analytics and ad accounts in your name, written into the agreement.
  • Ninety days, then month to month. No auto-renewing year.
  • Measured on calls and booked jobs. A ranking can go up while the phone stays quiet, so your portal shows calls, bookings and where each came from. If tracked calls and bookings aren’t up by day 90, I keep working free for up to 60 more days.
  • One person accountable. I build it and I run it. No account rep in between.

Common questions

Will I lose my Google reviews?
No. Reviews belong to your Google Business Profile, not to the agency. The first thing I do is make sure you are the primary owner of that profile, so nobody can take it with them.
Will my rankings drop when we switch?
There can be a short dip if page addresses change. I redirect every old page to its new one so Google keeps the history, and you can watch the numbers in your portal from the first week.
What if my contract has a cancellation fee?
Then I plan around it with you. Sometimes waiting out the term is cheaper than paying to leave, and I’ll show you the math either way. I’m not a lawyer; if the contract is complicated, have one look at it.
What if the agency built my site on its own platform?
Then the site itself usually can’t come with you, but the domain, your Google profile and your content can. I rebuild the site, custom-coded and in your name, and redirect the old pages.
